RSS Commemorates a Century of Service

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has initiated a three-day lecture series to mark its centenary. The series commenced on August 26, featuring a speech by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who highlighted the organization's achievements and its future objectives. Bhagwat emphasized that the goal of the organization is to transform the nation into a 'Vishwa Guru' through its contributions, aiming to instill a sense of responsibility in every Hindu.

Mohan Bhagwat's Insights on Opposition

On Wednesday, Mohan Bhagwat remarked that no other organization has faced as much opposition as the RSS. Despite this, he noted that the volunteers harbor a pure and selfless love for society. This love, he stated, has diminished the intensity of opposition against them. He encouraged forming friendships with virtuous individuals while ignoring those who do not engage in good deeds. Bhagwat advocated for recognizing positive actions, even if they come from adversaries, and urged compassion rather than cruelty towards those who err. He clarified that there are no incentives for volunteers, only discouragements.

Reflections on Revolutionary Spirit

He also reflected on a previous wave of revolution that produced many inspiring figures, including Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, who was a shining gem of that era. Although that revolutionary wave has faded and is no longer needed, it served as a source of motivation for living and dying for the nation. On August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed pride in the birth of the RSS a century ago, describing it as a glorious chapter in national service. He stated that with the resolve of 'nation-building through individual development,' volunteers have dedicated their lives to the welfare of Mother India, making the RSS one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the world with a century of dedication.
