The public’s interest in Cheung’s relationship with Tse was piqued recently after Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Jing shared insights into their personal lives during a YouTube program in mid-August.

Wong noted the tension between Cheung and Tse when he worked with the actress in 2011, as Cheung had occasionally mentioned conflicts over household chores and parenting. According to Wong, Cheung and Tse have very different personalities: she is direct and outspoken, while he is more reserved.

Despite their divorce, Cheung and Tse have maintained a respectful relationship, never speaking ill of each other. Wong pointed out that Tse continues to support their two sons, Lucas and Quintus, financially and emotionally, visiting them regularly. Cheung, for her part, maintains the image of Tse as a good father in front of their children.

“They may no longer be husband and wife, but as parents, they make a great team,” Wong said.

In an interview with VogueCheung explained that although she doesn’t bring up the topic of her divorce with her children, she answers their questions honestly and provides them with guidance to understand the situation.

After their divorce, Cheung remained dedicated to her career, working hard to provide for her children while balancing her professional and personal life. She also supports her parents and siblings, never missing opportunities to earn an income.

In the years following her divorce, Cheung frequently traveled to Chinese cities for work, filming in the mornings and flying back to her children in the evenings.

“Although they were asleep when I got home and didn’t see me, at least I could be home, and that was the greatest thing,” she recalled.

Cheung has openly admitted feeling exhausted at times, especially when dealing with illness. However, seeing her children act understanding and behave well brought her comfort. She tells herself: “Things are as they are, nothing is a big deal.”

She had planned for all three of her children, who rarely cry or fight at home. Cheung credits part of this to her own calm and measured approach to parenting.

“Now that they are older, I realize that they absorbed things I thought were trivial,” she reflected.

In a video shared on her personal account in April, the actress revealed that she is currently focused on raising her children and building her career, not thinking about romance. She also treats her children like friends, calmly telling them, “Don’t push me to argue; let me calm down first,” during disagreements with Lucas.

Cheung, 45, first rose to fame in 1998 after starring in a television commercial for lemon tea. She gained wider recognition with her role in Stephen Chow’s 1999 film “King of Comedy,” where she played a call girl.

Tse, also 45, entered the entertainment industry in 1996 and made his acting debut in 1998.
