Amid his popularity, his father, Daboo Malik has opened up about him and mentioned that Bigg Boss is not just a show for Amaal. Amaal Mallik wants his own identity from Bigg Boss 19 In a recent conversation with NDTV, Daboo Malik shared the reason on why Amaal was so keen to participate in the show, Bigg Boss 19. He mentioned that Amaal is looking for identity from this show. He continued to share that earlier , as Daboo himself led his life, battled depression, criticism and more. Eventually he didn't focus much on fame and moved on. He continued to add that after Anu Mallik, Armaan Mallik is the new face of the family. He explained that even though Amaal created an ecosystem of music, he was unable to be the face of the family as the singer gets more fame than the composer. He shared: "But each to his own. The face of the family became Armaan. Being the elder person who created this entire ecosystem of the Malik family, Amaal, with his great music and hard work, was not becoming the face. From the same family, suddenly one becomes a star like Armaan. And it always happens because a singer becomes more popular than a composer." Daboo, then went on to explain that this became the main reason for Amaal to enter the Bigg Boss house. He explained that the lack of recognition hit Amaal very badly and he wanted to be a star. Daboo mentioned that he hopes that Bigg Boss helps bring Amaal to the spotlight. In his words: "I think the feeling of not having an identity was a setback. In his heart, Amaal wants to be a star. And I hope this journey on a national platform will fulfil his dreams. Bigg Boss will give him that popularity, the face value, the identity that here he is - the man who created the music." He shared that even though Amaal deleted that post, it showed the mental toll that he was going through.
