Cancer: Nowadays, cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. It affects millions of men and women every year, which also takes the lives of many people. Oncologist Dr. Harish Verma has presented tremendous research in his Instagram post. He has emphasized that women are more prone to cancer, but men have a higher risk of dying from cancer. He has also explained the reasons behind this. Along with this, he has also given some important suggestions regarding men's health. Let us tell you.

Why are men at greater risk of death from cancer?

According to Dr. Harish, some of the main reasons why men are more likely to die from cancer are:

Not having regular checkups: Women often visit the doctor for gynaecological check-ups, but men only visit when they feel there is a serious problem. This means cancer is often detected too late, making treatment difficult. According to a survey, 44% of men say they visit the doctor only when it is 'absolutely necessary'.

Ignoring early symptoms: Men often ignore early symptoms such as unexplained weight loss, lumps or swelling, chronic fatigue, or changes in bowel/urinary habits.

Hesitancy to ask for help: Society often associates bravery with not asking for help. But ignoring the pain gives the cancer more time to grow.

Risky habits: Smoking, alcohol, red meat, staying up late, processed foods, and lack of exercise are all habits that men are more likely to indulge in. These habits increase the risk of lung, liver, throat, stomach, and prostate cancer.

Lack of awareness about one's health: Health problems such as inflammation, insulin resistance, and hormonal imbalances promote cancer. Yet most men go for a checkup only when the symptoms become severe.

What to do to stay healthy?

Dr Harish has some tips for men to protect their health:

  • Get your blood test, gut health, and hormone checkup done once a year.
  • Give up habits that can harm you.
  • Get good sleep, work out, and eat nutritious food.
  • Consult your doctor, partner, or friends about your health.

The most important thing that Dr. Harish said was that detecting the disease at the right time and starting its treatment as early as possible can save your life.
