Should Man Utd sack Ruben Amorim? Who should replace him? Vote now

Ruben Amorim is starting to feel the heat in the Old Trafford dugout. Manchester United's defeat at the hands of Grimsby Town saw his tenure hit a new low on Wednesday night, and fresh problems seem to be emerging with every passing day.

But the question beckons as to how much of this lies with Amorim, or whether the United squad need to stand up and take responsibility once again. If the Portuguese boss departs, is there truly an apt replacement available or should Sir Jim Ratcliffe simply put his faith in a manager who he previously identified as the ideal fit for his project?

It is no secret that the Red Devils job is a poisoned chalice at present, but the chance to be the manager to turn things around for one of the biggest clubs in the world is still an opportunity too enticing for many coaches to reject.

A host of managers are without clubs at present and could be lined up as Amorim's successor. Gareth Southgate has been long admired by INEOS, whilst ex-United midfielder Michael Carrick has not returned to management since being sacked by Middlesbrough and he could be a more left-field option.

United still hold plenty of weight within the world of football and the likes of Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi and USA international manager Mauricio Pochettino could be worthy of being approached as well.

Express Sport readers can have their say on who is the best candidate to replace Amorim, if he were to be given the boot by Ratcliffe. Vote below to let us know...
