All six English teams competing in this year's Champions League will very soon discover their fate this evening when the competition's league phase draw is completed. English champions Liverpool are one of three Premier League clubs in pot one, alongside Manchester City and Chelsea.
Arsenal find themselves in pot two for the draw, while Tottenham Hotspur are in pot three and Newcastle United, after a one-year hiatus from the competition, will be drawn from pot four. The league phase gets underway in September and runs until January, with each qualified side to be drawn against eight different opponents.
It's the second year of the revised Champions League format, with UEFA having ditched the previous group stage set-up in 2024. The 36 competing teams will make up a league table, with the top eight automatically progressing to the round of 16, with the next best 16 teams entering a play-off.
