Big Change Coming For SBI Credit Card Users From Sep 16: Credit Card Protection Plan

Starting September 16, 2025SBI Card will automatically migrate all existing Credit Card Protection Plan (CPP) customers to updated variants upon their policy renewal. Customers will be notified via SMS and email at least 24 hours before renewalensuring a smooth transition without requiring separate enrollment.

Updated Benefits Across CPP Variants

The updated CPP comes in three tiers—Classic, Premium, and Platinum—and offers features such as:

  • Single-call card blocking for lost or stolen cards
  • SIM card blocking service
  • Emergency travel assistance (up to ₹1.6 lakh depending on plan)
  • Fraud protection (PIN-based frauds, phishing, and unauthorized transactions covered up to ₹1 lakh)
  • Mobile wallet protection (up to ₹50,000 for physical loss of device)

These benefits extend beyond the cardholder, with coverage ranging from individual members (Classic) to spouse and parents (Platinum).

Lower Pricing Than Previous Plans

SBI Card has revised the pricing of CPP, making it cheaper than earlier variants:

  • Classic: ₹999 (earlier ₹1,199)
  • Premium: ₹1,499 (earlier ₹2,499)
  • Platinum: ₹1,999 (earlier ₹3,199)

This restructuring ensures customers enjoy comprehensive coverage at more competitive rates.

Registration Process Simplified

Once customers pay the CPP fee, they receive a welcome kit with a unique membership number. Registration can be completed either by filling out the provided form and sending it back, or by directly contacting the CPP call centre. Customers are encouraged to register important documents like driving licence and passport numberswhich can be retrieved via SBI Card executives in case of loss.
