In film industry typecasting often emerges as a creative cage that not only restricts an actors true potential but in many cases derails their promising careers. One such similar story is that of actress Kanchan whose stepped in Bollywood with big dreams but was trapped in repetitive roles regardless of her talent or versatility. Remember 90s popular actress Kanchan? From a very young age Kanchan had dreams of becoming an actress. During her modelling days veteran filmmaker Saawan Kumar Tak came across her photographs and was instantly fascinated. At the time he was casting for Sanam Bewafa a film starring Salman Khan. Kanchan cleared the audition and then went on to star in one of the biggest hits of the year. Over the next few years she starred in some of the iconic films like Kranti Kshetra Jumana and Paandav winning audiences hearts with her innocence. She also played the lead in Akshay Kumar’s film Amaana. Her most memorable performance was in David Dhawan’s 1995 blockbuster Coolie No. 1. The film starring Karisma Kapoor and Govinda was a massive hit and is till date fondly remembered for its chartbuster songs including Husn Hai Suhana. Kanchan portrayed Karismas younger sister and captivated audiences with her portrayal. Despite giving a massive hit Kanchan soon found herself at career crossroads. How Kanchan slowly disappeared from the industry? Reports claim that after the arrival of actresses like Sridevi Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor Kanchan was unable to get any film opportunities. Filmmakers at the time were looking for more bold and glamorous actresses over simple and sweet ones. To seek new work she ventured into South Indian film industry. There Kanchan made her debut with the Malayalam film Gandharvam alongside superstar Mohanlal. The film was a commercial hit and she  continued with films like Prema Pusthakam and Lucky Chance which gave her a brief revival. Eventually following that Kanchan got sidelined and then chose to step away from the filmy world altogether. Today no one knows about her whereabouts. Kanchan worked with superstars like Salman Khan Mohanlal Govinda and Akshay Kumar Kanchan suddenly vanished due to rising competition and less opportunities.
