UP's Muzaffarnagar Police has busted a shocking fraud gang which was known as 'Pink Gang'. The modus operandi of this gang was such that unemployed youth would get lured by their sweet talk and transfer lakhs of rupees to them. The police has arrested all these girls by raiding a call center.
16 girls were arrested along with the mastermind
The police received a complaint on the emergency number 1930, after which the call center was raided. Two masterminds, Ahad and Zubaid, were arrested along with 16 girls from the spot. These two were the real kingpins of this gang who used to trap young men by hiring girls on low salaries.
Method of cheating
These girls used to call unemployed youth and lure them with high paying jobs. After this, they used to ask for an amount of Rs 2500 to Rs 5000 in the name of 'security money' or advance. As soon as they got the money, these people used to break contact with the victims and their numbers used to be blocked.
The youth of Pune and Maharashtra were the target
Initial investigation has revealed that this gang was especially targeting the youth of Pune and Maharashtra. 30 to 40 thousand calls were made every month.
Goods confiscated and bank account frozen
During the raid, the police recovered three laptops, 20 mobile phones and about 30 SIM cards from the spot. Along with this, many important documents and registers were also recovered in which the information of the victims was recorded. The police also traced three bank accounts of both the accused, the process of freezing which has been started immediately.
Police estimate that thousands of youths have fallen prey to this gang's deception so far. At present, further investigation of the case is going on and preparations are also being made to seize the property acquired through fraud.
