Express columnist Nick Ferrari ripped into Angela Rayner during a heated debate with Marina Purkiss. The political commentator appeared on Nick's LBC radio show where she compared his comments about the Deputy Prime Minister to how he's dealt with other members of the previous Conservative government. The discussion came after it was revealed Angela Rayner reportedly dodged a hefty £40,000 stamp duty bill on her new seaside flat by declaring it as her main residence to tax authorities, according to The Telegraph.

The move allowed Ms Rayner to avoid a staggering £70,000 stamp duty bill that would have been due if the Hove property was considered her second home. Nick, 66, has been vocal about his disdain of Ms Rayner's actions, leading Marina to question why he didn't have the same approach when the Conservatives were in office.

Hitting out at the presenter, she began: "We know that you turn into an investigative journalist, Nick, with a moral compass when it's someone on the opposite side."

Nick chimed in: "I didn't see - I'm happy to expose everybody if I get the chance."

Marina continued: "Well, see Nick, I don't recall you asking Rishi Sunak to be very open with his blind trust. I don't recall you asking Boris Johnson to publish every single receipt."

Interjecting, the presenter declared: "I asked him how many children he had! I asked him how many children he had."

The 40-year-old responded: "Okay. That's not what I'm asking. What about asking Nigel Farage when you have him on for a little belly tickle who bankrolls him? Or asking Richard Tice about his offshore trusts."

After Nick claimed he has asked Mr Tice about "the latter of those two", Marina said: "I hope your listeners can see this for what it is. This is the media class, including yourself, telling working class people, especially a woman, especially a northern one, to stay in their lane."

Snapping back, the radio host fumed: "The I can't believe you're not seeing the hypocrisy here, Marina. This is someone who is a lawmaker, who has legally, weeks prior to buying a flat in Hove, shifted what we understand to be her prime residence from her constituency home to avoid paying £40,000.

"It's nothing to do with the fact she's a woman. If it was Ed Miliband, I would do the same."

Marina pointed out that the second home premium tax was written by the Conservatives under Boris Johnson and claimed Nick was "putting a cap" on Rayner's "ambition".
