At that time there was a film which created a panic at the box office. We are talking about the 1989 classic film ‘Ram Lakhan’, which had earned a huge amount of Rs 18 crore in a budget of only Rs 3 crore. This figure may seem small today, but at that time it was nothing short of a tsunami. The magic of Shomain Subhash Ghai was when Subhash Ghai was called ‘Showman’. His films meant magnificent story, tremendous action, memorable songs and big stars. In ‘Ram Lakhan’, he served everything together. On one hand there were elder brother Ram i.e. Jackie Shroff, who was a firm and honest police officer of principles. On the other hand, the younger brother Lakhan i.e. Anil Kapoor, who used to dream of becoming a little flirtatious, greedy and quickly rich. The pair of Ram and Lakhan, Jaiki and Anil, showed such a wonderful on screen that people still remember them as Ram-Lakhan. The story of the film was of confrontation and love of two brothers, which was well liked by the audience. Anil Kapoor’s song ‘My Name Is Lakhan’ became such a hit that even today it is the pride of the parties. Seeing his dance and energy on this song, people used to stand on seats in the cinema hall and dance. The film also had big actresses like Rakhi, Dimple Kapadia and Madhuri Dixit, who killed the story with their acting. This film was not only super hit with money, but also settled in people’s hearts. Its dialogues, songs and story are fresh even after 35 years. ‘Ram Lakhan’ is not just a film, but the golden emerald of Hindi cinema, which is seen as many times, a new glow appears.
