Commercial LPG cylinders have been cut several times in recent months. In July and August, there was a decrease of ₹ 33 to ₹ 58 per cylinder. Indian Oil and other government oil companies update prices every month, which gives relief to consumers.
How are LPG prices fixed?
LPG prices are based on the ‘Import Parity Price’ (IPP). This includes international prices, dollar-rupaya exchange rates, freight charge, tax and logistics costs. There is a slight difference in prices due to tax and transportation costs in different states. Under the Ujjwala scheme of the government, eligible consumers get subsidy, which directly transfer to their bank account. This subsidy reduces actual expenses to a great extent.
