
Health Desk. The most common side effects of today’s runaway life, unbalanced diet and stressful routine are being seen as high blood pressure i.e. high blood pressure. It is a ‘silent killer’, which can gradually damage vital organs such as heart, brain, eye and kidney. But the good news is that it can be controlled with some simple changes and the help of correct catering.
1. Banana:
Bananas contain abundant potassium, which balances the effect of sodium in the body. Since sodium is a major cause of increasing BP, potassium helps in controlling blood pressure by making its balance. Eating one or two bananas daily is a simple but effective remedy.
2. Beet:
Nitrates are found in beetroot, which go into the body and turn into nitric oxides. It improves blood flow by spreading blood vessels and reduces BP. It is beneficial to drink a glass of fresh beet juice or include it as a salad.
3. Garlic:
Garlic contains an active compound called allicin, which is capable of reducing blood pressure naturally. Chewing one or two raw garlic buds on an empty stomach every morning or using it in food is beneficial for high BP patients.
4. Oats:
The soluble fiber present in oats helps reduce cholesterol and improve the health of blood vessels. It is considered an ideal snack to reduce the risk of high BP. Take boiled oats, fruits and nuts in milk or water without sugar.
