Branch-Pola is a pair of two different bracelets: Branch: This is a white colored bracelet which is made by cutting the holy conch. White color is considered a symbol of purity and purification. Pola: It is a dark red bracelet, which was traditionally made of coral (coral). Red color is considered a symbol of energy, happiness and descent growth. Wearing both of these together is a symbol of balance and perfection in the life of a married woman. This is the identity of her married life. Branch-Pola? What is the story behind it? The tradition of wearing a branch-Pola is centuries old and both religious and social importance are hidden. According to a popular folklore, this tradition started with the fisherman community. Poor fishermen did not have money to give expensive jewelry of gold and silver in the wedding of their daughters. Therefore, they used to make conch and coral out of the sea to make their beautiful bracelets and give their daughter as a gift in marriage. Gradually, this practice became an integral part of Bengali culture. According to religious beliefs, the branch-Pola is worn to wish for the long life of husband, good health and family prosperity. It is also considered a safety shield from negative energy. ‘Stubborn Mongal’: When the bride wears the bride, there is a very important ritual called ‘Dodhi Mongal’ in the Branch-Polabangali weddings. During this ritual, seven married women pure the white bracelet (branch) made of conch and the red bracelet made of coral by immersing it in turmeric mixed water and then wears the bride, it is a blessing given by the mother for a happy married life to her daughter. Along with Shakha-Pola, the bride is also called an iron, which is called an iron tank, which is called an iron. It usually gifts her daughter-in-law as a gift and is believed to prevent evil eyes.
