Google has launched new AI-powered features to make its popular Google Translate app smarter. The company says that now users will get the facility of translating live conversations and learning languages directly in the Translate app. In these features, the company has used the advanced reasoning and multimodal capabilities of Gemini models, which will make the conversation experience more seamless and natural.
Live translation got even better.
Google said that every month, people translate about 1 trillion words on its platform. Now this process will be easier thanks to AI. In the new Live Translate feature, users can start a conversation directly by opening the app and listening to or reading the translation immediately. This feature will be available in more than 70 languages, including Hindi, Arabic, French, Korean, Spanish, and Tamil.
The company said that the translation will not be limited to words only, but it will also help in smooth communication by understanding the tone, intonation, and pause of the conversation. This will make it easier than ever to converse in a natural way in any language.
Accurate experience even in noisy environments
Google said in its statement that the new voice and speech recognition models have been trained in such a way that they can recognize different sounds. This means that whether the user is at the airport or in a crowded cafe, they will get the translation experience without any interruption. This feature has currently been launched in the US, India, and Mexico.
New language learning feature
Google has also announced the launch of a beta language practice mode. In this, users will be given listening and speaking exercises. In the initial stage, this feature will be available for English users learning Spanish and French, and for Spanish, French, and Portuguese users learning English. The company says that this step will make the language learning process more interactive and personalized.
