Fatal Bus Incident in Badaun District
A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday in Badaun district, Uttar Pradesh, when a speeding bus overturned and fell into a water-filled pit, resulting in the death of a 70-year-old woman and injuries to nearly 20 others.
According to police reports, the incident took place in the Dattaganj police station area, specifically in the village of Daharpur Kala. The identity of the deceased woman has not yet been established, and among the injured, one child is reported to be in critical condition.
District Magistrate Avnish Rai stated that initial investigations suggest the driver may have dozed off, leading to the unfortunate accident. Approximately 20 passengers sustained injuries, with some suffering minor wounds while others have more serious injuries. All injured individuals have been admitted to the Dattaganj Primary Health Center and Badaun District Hospital.
Rescue operations were promptly initiated by police and local residents at the scene. Following the incident, both the bus driver and the assistant fled the site. Authorities have ordered an investigation into the matter.
