Nowadays, due to heavy rains and water accumulation, cases of dengue are coming up. Dengue can seriously affect the body and ignoring it can be dangerous. In such a situation, many people believe that goat milk can help with dengue.

Dengue and goat milk: The rainy season is going on and cases of dengue have started coming in some areas of the country. Most people have normal symptoms of dengue, but in some it becomes dangerous and platelets start decreasing. To increase them, some people drink goat milk. It is a common belief in our country that goat milk increases platelets, but medical research refutes this.

Research published in the National Library of Medicine states that goat milk is not helpful in increasing platelets, rather, raw goat milk can increase the risk of bacterial infections like brucellosis, which can be more dangerous for a weakened body due to dengue. This research has made it clear that consumption of goat milk during dengue can be risky for health and cannot be considered safe. There is no evidence that goat milk increases platelets in any way.

Drinking goat milk during dengue can harm the body.

Dr. Rohit Kapoor at Max Hospital in Delhi explains that drinking goat milk is recommended in many places for dengue, but there is no solid scientific evidence for this. No element that increases platelets has been found in goat milk. On the contrary, it can cause a stomach infection. Raw goat milk can increase the risk of brucellosis, which is a serious and dangerous infection. The body is already weak during dengue, and such an infection can pose a greater risk to health. Therefore, drinking goat milk during dengue is not beneficial, and it can also harm the body. Patients should avoid any home remedies or milk consumption without consulting a doctor.

So why do people drink goat milk?

Dr. Rohit says that if a person does not have any infection or fever and does not have any stomach-related disease, then he can drink goat milk occasionally, but people drink it to increase platelets when they have dengue. However, this is a big misconception. What happens is that in some patients, the platelet level starts recovering automatically after some time. But they feel that this has happened due to goat milk. Due to this misconception, people advise each other to drink this milk, although it should not be drunk during dengue.

What to do to increase platelets in dengue

Drink an adequate amount of water and keep the body hydrated.

Get your blood tested from time to time to know the number of platelets.

Take a healthy diet and avoid fatigue.

Before adopting any home remedy, definitely consult a doctor.

If platelets are very low then take only the medicines prescribed by the doctor.
