According to the Transnational Education (TNE) Report 2024-25 of edtech company upGrad, applications to American universities have declined by 13 percent year-on-year, as Indian students are preferring destinations like Germany, where a 32.6 percent increase has been recorded in 2024-25. At the same time, an unprecedented increase has been registered in the number of Indian students in the United Arab Emirates. Here, 42 percent of international students are Indians.

60% Indian students were studying in America

According to the Transnational Education (TNE) report of edtech company Upgrade, America was the most preferred place for Indian students in the past. The report said that in the year 2022, 19% Indian students were studying in America and 18% in Canada, which were the highest.

At the same time, by the year 2023, this rate reached about 60% in America, which stopped at 47% after the decline. While in 2025 it has reached 13%. The report said that there has been a decrease in applications in Canada as well, which has come down from 18% in 2022 to 9% in 2025.

Indian students are also getting attracted to Britain.
According to the Transnational Education (TNE) report of edtech company Upgrade, thousands of students from India are now being attracted to Britain every year, thanks to UK universities achieving global rankings, short PG programs, and curriculum. According to the report, along with the dominance of Britain, Ireland has also rapidly made its place among Indian students. The Transnational Education (TNE) report is based on a survey of more than one lakh respondents conducted from January 2024 to May 2025, which mainly included Indian students.
