Severe Flooding in Greater Noida

Greater Noida Update: The rising waters of the Yamuna River have wreaked havoc in Greater Noida, inundating over 1,500 farmhouses situated along its banks between Sector 150 and 151. Numerous families from various villages in the Khadar region have evacuated their homes and are now seeking refuge near the dam. The local administration is actively engaged in relief efforts, but the ongoing rise in water levels continues to disrupt the lives of residents.

Vigilant Nights and Relief Camps

The situation has escalated as the Yamuna's water level has consistently increased over the past week. Villagers still residing in their homes are staying alert throughout the night, prepared to evacuate their families in case of an emergency. Several villages, including Momnathal, have seen their homes, fields, and roads submerged. In Sectors 150 and 151, the water level has reached nearly 15 feet near the dam, leaving only the rooftops of farmhouses visible, resembling a significant flood event.

Momnathal Village Severely Affected

Momnathal village, located along the Yamuna, has been particularly hard hit by the flooding. More than 50 families have been compelled to leave their homes and are now living in tents on the dam. These displaced individuals are facing challenges in accessing food and clean drinking water while living under the open sky.

Health Concerns on the Rise

Residents on the dam are experiencing a critical shortage of essential services. The unsanitary conditions and contaminated water have led to a surge in cases of diarrhea, fever, and skin ailments. A medical team stationed in Sector 151 treated over 150 patients on Friday, with many suffering from colds, coughs, and allergies.

Limited Medical Assistance

The health department has dispatched a team consisting of two doctors and seven health workers, along with two ambulances on-site. Serious cases are being referred to higher medical facilities. However, affected individuals report that the relief supplies and medical assistance provided are insufficient to meet their needs.

Administration's Commitment to Aid

SDM Sadar Ashutosh Gupta has assured that the administration is making every effort to assist those affected. Relief supplies, clean water, and improved health services are being distributed in the flood-impacted areas, with ongoing monitoring of the situation.
