Fitness Test in London: The Controversy Reports suggest that Kohli took his fitness test in London while other players—Rohit Sharma Shubman Gill Jasprit Bumrah Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj—underwent the BCCI test in Bengaluru. This raised questions about whether Kohli received special dispensation from the BCCI. Sunil Chhetris Statement Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri added fuel to the fire. Chhetri said that Kohli had sent him his fitness test scores from London a few days ago. However there has been no official confirmation as to whether this was a mandatory BCCI test. “Players like Kohli and Ronaldo are an inspiration” Praising Kohli Chhetri said:“He sent me his test scores from London a few days ago. Its so inspiring; even in tough times you think Lets work hard. When youre at the top everyone wants to be like Kohli or Ronaldo and maintaining that level for so long is amazing.” BCCI Fitness Assessment The BCCI fitness test included a Yo-Yo test and a DXA scan (bone density test) for the players. These have become standard procedures for assessing the fitness of Indian cricketers. Bronco Test Not Conducted The new strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux had recommended the Bronco test but it wasnt conducted in Bengaluru. However reports suggest that the test could take place when the team arrives in Dubai for the Asia Cup. When and Where Could the Bronco Test Take Place? According to BCCI sources:“It is possible that the test will be conducted after the team arrives in Dubai. The team will reach by the night of September 4 (early morning of September 5) and will have its first session at the ICC Academy. The fitness assessment can be planned there.” Story Highlights Virat Kohli to make his comeback with the Australia series; controversy erupts over reports of fitness tests in London.
