Only three teams involved in the first edition
The first edition of the Asia Cup was played in 1984. At that time, only India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka were involved in the tournament. The tournament was played in ‘Round Robin’, in which each team played two or two matches. After a total of three matches, the team was declared the winner, the final match was not played at the time.
India had won by winning both matches
The first match between the 1984 Asia Cup was between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, in which Sri Lanka won. Subsequently, the Indian team led by Sunil Gavaskar won the first match against Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. India then defeated Pakistan by 54 runs in the second match, India won in both matches. He was declared the winner as India were at the top spot in the marks. Sri Lanka won one match, and Pakistan had lost in both matches.
India’s hosts for the Asia Cup 2025
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has the right to organize the Asia Cup. This year, India has been the host of the Asia Cup225, but due to the tensions between India and Pakistan, these matches will be played in a neutral place, ie UAE (UAE). A total of 8 teams – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman and Hong Kong will be participating in the tournament.
Team India’s first match on September 10
Team India will launch its campaign with the UAE match against the UAE on September 10 in the Asia Cup 2025. He will then match with Pakistan on September 14. Both of these matches will be played at the Dubai International Stadium. The Indian team will then play its next match against Oman on September 19. Team India has been named in Group-A for this Asia Cup. The top-2 of both groups will get a place in Super-4.
