New Delhi: A 27-year-old man was allegedly assaulted to death by three of his friends when the group was out for a party in Rohini on September 5, the police said.
The incident came to light on Sunday when the police received a call relating to the death of the victim, triggering an investigation. According to the police, the fight started reportedly after the deceased hit one of the accused with a beer bottle, which infuriated the latter and his cousins, a media report said. The police have arrested three accused, all hailing from Burari, while the other two are at large. The deceased has been identified as Habib Rehman, also a resident of Sant Nagar, Burari, reported The Times of India. On Friday night, Rehman had gone to a party at a lounge with his five friends. Later, they headed to a bar at Rohini's W Mall, where they engaged in an argument over a minor issue. The situation escalated quickly when Rehman hit one of his friends with a beer bottle. Responding to that, the accused and his cousins brutally assaulted him and shoved him into the car boot to drive him to a dairy farm, which was owned by one of the accused. Upon reaching there, the accused beat the deceased badly, leaving him severely injured. Then they dropped him off at his home in Burari at around 4:30 am. When Sabir, the brother of the deceased, insisted on taking Rehman to a hospital, the accused individuals denied. They changed his clothes and left. As his situation started to deteriorate, he was taken to the hospital the next morning, where the doctors declared him dead. The police have registered a case under sections 103 (murder), 140(kidnapping or abducting in order to murder or for ransom, etc) and 3(5)(common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at South Rohini police station.
