
Officials said that the Delhi government will soon start a skill development program of Rs 50 crore. It aims to train unemployed youth, artisans and people with opposite backgrounds. Industry Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, after presiding over a high -level review meeting, said that the scheme to be launched for skill promotion of cottage industries through Delhi Khadi and Village Industries Board (DKVIB) is going to start soon.
Sirsa said that the purpose of this skill development program of Rs 50 crore is to create employment by keeping India's ancient craft alive. More than 13900 people will be trained in 2025-26 with the help of partners such as NSDC, NIESBUD and non-governmental organizations. An official statement said that the scheme guarantees 20 percent self -employment and 50 percent salary jobs.
These courses include skills such as apparel marketing, logistics work, IT aid desk, self-planned sewing and Khadi fashion manufacture. Trainees will be given daily classes on AI, digital tools, marketing and soft skills. They will also be given 400 rupees per month for five months. Also, after training, it will also be helped in getting loans.
Sirsa emphasized the role of the scheme in honoring India's handloom heritage. He said that our government is dedicated to preserving the timeless art of Khadi and village industry. Also providing the youth providing equipment for the future.
The minister said that the craft is to connect with artificial intelligence (AI) and digital training. This will help the board to create a model that inspires employment generation and self -reliance that is in line with Prime Minister Modi's self -reliant India's perspective.
Under this scheme, at least 50 percent places will be given to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes/Economically weaker sections and women. Under this scheme, 2500 artisans will be provided toolkit and 500 artisans will be given the opportunity to travel training. This will also help in setting up training centers in every district of Delhi.
The scheme will include a major entrepreneurship development program (EDP) which will run for 10 days. This will include practical skill development with commercial basic things to convert small crafts into employment. All this will be based on the guidelines of the Ministry of MSME. The scheme will increase with more people training more people in 2026-27.
