NDA's Assurance of Winning the Vice Presidential Election
On Tuesday, Union Minister Sukant Majumdar expressed confidence in the NDA's success in the vice presidential election, taking a jab at the opposition by stating that their unique trait is remaining cheerful even after a loss. Majumdar remarked to a news agency that the opposition consistently makes claims, which is nothing new. He noted, 'Our opposition has a peculiar characteristic; they celebrate even after losing... This time too, we will win, and they will be happy.' Voting for the 15th vice presidential election commenced on Tuesday morning, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi being the first to cast his vote, followed by other prominent ministers and MPs.
Counting of Votes Underway for the 15th Vice Presidential Election
The counting of votes for the 15th vice presidential election is currently in progress. NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan is competing against the joint opposition's candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy. This election is taking place 50 days after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from the vice presidency citing health reasons on July 21. Meanwhile, in support of the opposition candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy, DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai stated that the selection of candidates in the vice presidential election serves as a reminder of who truly cares for the country.
Opposition's Concerns Over Candidate Selection
Annadurai emphasized to a news agency, 'On one side, we have a retired Supreme Court judge who speaks of high constitutional values, while on the other, we have an RSS propagandist.' He questioned the sudden resignation of the former vice president, labeling it as a disregard for constitutional norms by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and expressed that the outcome for BJP candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan should not mirror that of Jagdeep Dhankhar.
