Apple’s September launch was all about big reveals, but it didn’t take long for Samsung to swoop in and steal some of the spotlight. As Apple fans buzzed over the arrival of the iPhone 17 series, the ultra-slim iPhone Air, and shiny new accessories, Samsung fired off a cheeky post on X that had the internet laughing, debating, and roasting both brands in equal measure.

At its ‘Awe-Dropping’ event on September 9, Apple unveiled a packed lineup. The company rolled out four new iPhones — the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the ultra-slim iPhone Air, which it’s touting as the thinnest iPhone ever. Alongside the flagship devices came the AirPods Pro 3, now upgraded with health-tracking features and improved durability, and two refreshed wearables: the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch SE 3. With AI-driven features, 120Hz displays, and major camera upgrades, Apple’s latest gadgets grabbed plenty of attention.

But Samsung was quick to throw shade. Samsung Mobile US posted on X: “#iCant believe this is still relevant,” while quoting one of its own 2022 tweets that read, “Let us know when it folds.” The jab was a clear reference to Samsung’s foldable lineup, a category Apple has yet to step into.

Internet reacts

The post sparked a flurry of reactions online. Some users mocked Samsung’s obsession with foldables, saying they still didn’t find them relevant. Others clapped back, pointing out that Samsung itself often gets treated like a meme. A few Apple loyalists jumped in to defend the brand, arguing that Apple simply doesn’t want to fold. While others piled on Samsung, questioning whether foldables would ever reach enough market share to truly matter. Of course, a few couldn’t resist poking fun at the crease in Samsung’s foldable screens, while others simply said they enjoyed Samsung’s bold trolling.
