Poison in the name of medicine? ‘Antibiotic resistance’ increasing from Paracetamol and Ibuprofen, revealed in new research

Think, one morning you get up and feel that there is fever, the body is breaking. As soon as you take the medicine to cure yourself, perhaps paracetamol or ibuprofen, you feel that it will get relief now and often it happens. But have you ever wondered what these medicines are doing with good and bad bacteria present inside our body?

Recent research has put out a shocking truth to these drugs. According to a study done at the University of South Australia, Australia, these common drugs are promoting the capacity of antibiotic resistance i.e. antibiotics that neutralize bacteria and that too without our knowledge.

When ordinary medicines become danger

The University of South Australia team did a research, in which they noticed that when a bacteria called E. Coli (E. Coli) was brought to the contact of Paracetamol and Ibuprofen along with antibiotic called Ciprofloxacin, then there was rapid mutation in bacteria. Mutation, the bacteria, started changing itself, which caused it to avoid the effect of antibiotic.

Bacteria are strong

And this is not just an antibiotic. When the bacteria came in contact with these drugs, it also developed a resistance capacity towards many other types of antibiotics. That is, on the one hand, where we understand that we are getting cured with the disease, bacteria are becoming strong inside our body.

Taking medicines together even more dangerous

The most concern is that when Paracetamol and Ibuprofen were taken together, the resistance of bacteria increased even more rapidly. This is because when there is two types of pressure on bacteria, it goes into ‘survival mode’. That is, to stay alive, he starts changing himself.

Growing global concern

The World Health Organization (WHO) has already declared antibiotic resistance a global threat. In 2019, this problem has killed 12 lakh 70 thousand people. The worst thing is that nowadays simple infections such as burning sensation (UTI), pneumonia or slight wounds can also be fatal, if medicines are not affected. Especially in old age, when people take many types of medicines for a long time, then this danger increases even more. Consuming several drugs simultaneously can mute bacteria faster.

What to do?

This research warns us that it can be dangerous to take medicines lightly. It is not necessary that only antibiotics produce resistance in bacteria. Common medicines of fever and pain can also play rolls in it, so it is important that every time you consult a doctor before taking the medicine from yourself. Avoid taking several medicines simultaneously, especially when there is no need. Do not leave the antibiotic course incomplete and become the most important awareness and also make others aware.
