Current Status of Vaishno Devi Pilgrimage
The pilgrimage to the Vaishno Devi Temple in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir has been on hold for the 16th day in a row, despite significant improvements in weather conditions in the Jammu region. A landslide triggered by cloudburst on August 26 in the Trikuta hills near Katra resulted in the tragic deaths of 34 pilgrims, with 20 others sustaining injuries.
The pilgrimage was suspended on the same day and will remain so until further notice. Authorities are expected to announce the resumption of the pilgrimage either on Saturday or Sunday, as most of the repair work along the route to the cave temple has been completed.
Officials stated that the suspension of the pilgrimage was implemented with the safety of the pilgrims in mind. They assured that a decision regarding the resumption of the journey will be made at the appropriate time.
