Leader Diwakar Dangal: In the wake of Nepal’s Gen Z-led movement, young leaders have spoken out about their goals and limits while resisting efforts to undermine their “unity” as tensions rise. Diwakar Dangal, the head of Generation Z, acknowledged that the youthful faces of the movement are not yet prepared to take on the nation’s leading positions.

“We are not ready to assume leadership roles, and it will take us some time to develop the maturity necessary to do so. They’re trying to shatter us. There are certain party members who believe they can infiltrate and cause strife. You (previous leaders) are to blame for this carnage. People would not live if they instigated the violence. Bloodshed is not what we desire. We do not intend to repeal the constitution; we only wish to dissolve the parliament,” he said.
Gen Z’s Vision and Political Aspirations
Anil Baniya, another Gen Z activist, emphasized that the movement started because of dissatisfaction with the nation’s aging political system.
We started this movement because we were tired of the elderly leaders. The political cadres started the fires and subsequently damaged the infrastructure, despite our request for a nonviolent demonstration. The Gen-Z leaders cast their votes for Sushila Karki via online polls. Our goal is to make the necessary amendments to the constitution, not to alter it. We will go to the election in six months,” Baniya said.
Kulman Ghising: New Leader of the Interim Government
The Gen Z-led movement in Nepal, which has been advocating for good governance and anti-corruption reforms, has reached a crucial stage as it assumes a more significant role in directing the nation’s political transformation.
Kulman Ghising, a well-known figure in the energy industry, has been selected to lead the temporary administration after former Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah resigned. Many people see Ghising as a person with integrity and a track record of success since he is credited with putting an end to Nepal’s debilitating power outages when he was employed for the Nepal Electricity Authority. Until new elections are conducted, he will lead the interim administration.
Growing Influence and Future of Gen Z in Nepal Politics
Gen Z activists celebrated Ghising’s appointment as leader, calling it a “unprecedented success” for their cause. Youth leaders have also contacted Army Headquarters to request inclusion in talks over the temporary arrangement, according to reports in Nepali media.
