One of Derbyshire's treasured towns is preparing to host its grand VictorianChristmas market once more this year, turning a sprawling park into a "festive wonderland". The year 2025 will commemorate the 30th anniversary of Matlock's cherished Victorian Christmas Market, which commences from the first Friday of December.

With planners pledging this year's event will be the "biggest and most magical yet", it promises to be an ideal outing for couples both young and mature, families with youngsters, and anyone seeking those elusive Christmas presents. Guests will have the opportunity to browse more than 200 traditional stalls showcasing distinctive gifts, handcrafted items, scrumptious food, artisan delicacies, and seasonal fashion. The majority of the stalls are housed within two enormous marquees, ensuring the weekend can be savoured regardless of weather conditions, though some snowfall would genuinely capture the Christmas atmosphere, reports Derbyshire Live.

The weekend will also feature abundant live entertainment, including beloved returning acts such as the Seaforth Highlanders' Pipes and Drums, the perpetually popular James McKay and his Famous Owls, Lara performing as a Tina Turner tribute, and debuting this year, Robbie and Liam - a Robbie Williams and Liam Gallagher double-act tribute.

According to the planners, there's something to suit every generation.

Youngsters can delight in the funfair, visit Santa in his Grotto (operating Saturday and Sunday, with earnings benefiting local charities through Matlock Derwent Valley Lions Club), and absorb the festive atmosphere with wandering entertainers and seasonal delights. The festivities will reach a spectacular climax with a fireworks display on Sunday, December 7 at 5.30pm.

The skies above Matlock's Hall Leys Park will be illuminated in a grand finale to celebrate thirty years of the Victorian Matlock Christmas Market. Alan Scaife, from Special Event Organisers UK, expressed: "This year marks a truly special milestone for the Victorian Matlock Christmas Market.

"For 30 years, it's brought joy, community spirit, and festive magic to Matlock. We can't wait to welcome everyone back for a weekend to remember."

Outside of its Christmas market, Matlock is a charming town to visit any time of year. Its proximity to the Peak District makes it the perfect base for exploring the region, and even if you don't want to venture out there's plenty to do.

From dozens of independent shops, pubs and restaurants there's also the amazing Hall Leys Park.

This year the park won its 18th consecutive Green Flag award from the Keep Britain Tidy Group, making it officially one of the best parks in the whole of the UK. There's plenty of clear, winding pathways, wide open green spaces and even its own cafe.

For a great day out, you can visit Matlock Farm Park which boasts alpaca treks, children's play areas and plenty more to explore.
