Calf Muscles is Second Heart: Whenever we talk about health, our focus first goes to the heart, which stays in the chest and pumps blood throughout the body. But do you know that there is another ‘heart’ in your body, which is equally important for your health? This second ‘heart’ is in your feet – the muscles of your calfs, which are called ‘Kaf muscles’ in medical language.
After all, why do the ‘second heart’ to the calves?
The work of our heart is to deliver pure blood throughout the body. But when this blood reaches the legs, due to gravity, he has to work hard to return to the heart. It is here that the muscles of the calfs act like an auxiliary pump. These muscles shrink when we walk, run, or stir the legs. This shrinkage makes pressure on the veins of the feet, causing the blood to push upwards, just as the heart beats and pumps blood.
This process is called ‘Masal Pump Mechanism’ (CMP), and that is why these muscles are called ‘second heart’. If this second heart does not function properly, then there may be blood deposition in the lower parts of the body, which can cause problems like swelling, pain, heaviness and varicose veins. These problems also increase by sitting or standing for a long time.
Research also confirmed: Death rate can increase the weakness of another heart
It is very important for our health to work properly this other heart. Recently, a study published in June 2024 by Mayo Clinic found that people who had low functionality of CMP had high mortality. This research also stated that the lack of CMP can become the root of many serious diseases. Similarly, according to a research paper published in the ‘National Library of Medicine’ in 2020, if this ‘second heart’ does not work properly, then you can be hit by many diseases, even a heart attack.
When blood circulation is interrupted, the risk of blood clots in the feet also increases, which can prove to be fatal by reaching the lungs or heart. Therefore, to live a healthy life, it is very important to take care of the other heart present in the feet, not just the heart of the chest.
Now whenever you walk, run or climb stairs, pay attention to your feet once and thank them. They not only increase you further, but also distribute the burden of your heart. Keep the muscles of your feet active, so that your ‘second heart’ also works properly and you can live a healthy and healthy life.
