New Delhi: Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris played a smooth and confident knock scoring a quick half-century to help Pakistan register a big 93-run victory over a lower-ranked Oman side in their Group A Asia Cup match on Friday. Choosing to bat first Pakistan posted 160 for 7 with Haris contributing 63 runs from 43 deliveries. What was Omans reply? Oman had a terrible start to their chase losing captain Jatinder Singh and Aamir Kaleem early and were eventually bowled out for just 67 in 16.4 overs. Jatinder was bowled by Saim Ayub with a carrom ball while Kaleem was trapped LBW by the same bowler. Hamad Mirza hit a few big shots including some boundaries and sixes but Mohammad Nadeem was dismissed by left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem giving an easy catch to Abrar Ahmed. Oman kept losing wickets one after another. Sufyan Mehmood was the next to fall caught by Hasan Nawaz at deep mid-wicket while attempting a slog sweep. How did Pakistan bat? Earlier opting to bat Pakistan lost Saim Ayub (0) in the second delivery of the match caught in plumb in front of the wicket by Shah Faisal. Ayub went for the review but it was ruled out by the third umpire. Thereafter Haris (66 off 43 balls) and Sahibzada Farhan (29 off 29) steadied the ship with a 85-run partnership for the second wicket. In the 10th over Haris clobbered Sufyan Mehmood over deep mid-wicket for a six to bring up his fifty. While Haris fifty ensured a solid start for Pakistan Farhan struggled for timing at the other end. Farhan didnt last long as he was caught and bowled by left-arm spinner Aamir Kaleem (3/31) in the 11th over. Story Highlights: Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris played a smooth and confident knock.
