Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is making a comeback to the big screen with Nishaanchi starring Aaishvary Thackeray and Vedika Pinto.
Ahead of the film’s release, Anurag Kashyap was seen in a podcast session with his longtime friends, associates and colleagues, Piyush Mishra and Manoj Bajpayee.
Anurag has directed Piyush Mishra in films like Gulaal and Gangs of Wasseypur and Manoj Bajpayee in Gangs of Wasseypur.

In an interview with Humans of Cinema, Piyush Mishra was asked if he ever revisits Anurag Kashyap’s films like Gulaal and Gangs of Wasseypur.
Piyush responded that he has revisited Gangs of Wasseypur on occasions but avoids Gulaal.
At this point, Anurag Kashyap added that Piyush is unfiltered when it comes to his opinions but refrains from sharing reasons behind why he disliked a film. The filmmaker added that Piyush just calls them “bakwaas” and moves on.
At this point, Piyush chipped in and said, “I’m sorry, Anurag, I know I’m in the film (Gulaal), but I didn’t get the film’s second half. I have no idea what you did. That’s his problem. He makes half a good movie, then he spoils it. It’s like he can’t believe that he’s made such a good movie. He thinks, ‘Wow, this is a good movie, let’s ruin it. Let’s make a rubbish second half’. That’s his problem. Gulaal was a good movie, and he went and spoiled it.”
Piyush then went on to talk about other films of Anurag Kashyap and cited examples of Dev D and Gangs of Wasseypur part 1 and 2.

He added, “He’s done this to all his films. Look at Dev D. The first half was a classic, and then he ruined it.”
At this point, Manoj Bajpayee agreed with Piyush and quipped that Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s cameo in “Emosanal Attyachar” song ‘saved’ Dev D’s second half.
Piyush then continued, “I don’t know what his problem is. Gangs of Wasseypur had the same issue; he made the first part, then he lost his mind. I thought Dev D would be a film on alcoholism, and then it became something strange.”
He, however, maintained that Anurag is a “great filmmaker” and concluded, “When the history of Hindi cinema is written, there will be time before Anurag Kashyap and after Anurag Kashyap. It doesn’t matter that he has… Forget it.”

Interestingly, Anurag who was present during the interview was seen laughing whole-heartedly at Piyush Mishra’s criticism.
Anurag Kashyap’s next release is Nishaanchi which will be out in theatres on September 19. It will be followed by Bandar starring Bobby Deol.
