Significant Growth in Female Pilots in India
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted on Saturday that India is among the few nations witnessing an increase in the number of female pilots, indicating a revolutionary change.
During an event where he laid the foundation stone for a post office passport service center and distributed passbooks to 38 girls under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Scindia noted that while developed countries like the USA and those in Europe have a lower percentage of female pilots, India boasts that 15% of its pilots are women.
Referring to the upcoming passport service center, he mentioned that residents of Morena and Shivpuri districts, along with those from neighboring Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, previously had to travel to Gwalior, Guna, Bhopal, or Delhi for passport services. Now, these services will be conveniently available in Morena.
He stated, “The proposed building, costing ₹30 lakh, will provide passport services to the residents of the Morena Lok Sabha constituency. The decision to establish passport service centers in each parliamentary constituency aims to enhance service delivery to citizens.”
Scindia further remarked, “Under the capable and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as a catalyst for global change. Initiatives like the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and Ujjwala Yojana have provided over 10 million women with cooking gas connections, significantly empowering them.”
The Union Minister also emphasized that the 33% reservation for women in assemblies is strengthening institutional participation.
