Team India posted their second successive comprehensive win in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 tournament in Dubai. Suryakumar Yadav’s side hammered arch-rivals Pakistan by seven wickets with more than 4 overs to spare. Defending champions India restricted Pakistan to 127 for 9 and chased down 128 to win for the loss of only 3 wickets in 15.5 overs. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav top-scored with 47 off 37 balls while Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma scored 31 each. Indians have now almost assured themselves of a berth in the Super 4 stage and are now topping Group A after a couple of matches. India have 4 points from 2 matches with 2 wins and a net run-rate of 4.793 while Pakistan are in 2nd place with 2 points from 2 matches with one win and one loss and a net run-rate of 1.649. The other two team in the group – United Arab Emirates and Oman – are yet to garner a point in the tournament so far. But both UAE and Oman will have the opportunity to draw level with Pakistan on two points on Monday evening when they face off in match No. 7. A win for Salman Ali Agha’s side will assure them of a berth in the Super 4 stage with Team India. Meanwhile India’s last league stages match will be against minnows Oman at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi – their first match at the venue. They will be hoping to march into the Super 4 stage with an all-win record under their belt. India vs Pakistan set to take place again next Sunday Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are on course to face off in another charged-up encounter – this time in the Super 4 stages. The Super 4 stages will begin on September 20 (Saturday) where there two top teams from Group B will face off while the top two teams from Group A – India and Pakistan – will clash on Sunday evening in Dubai. The Group A match between India and Pakistan had ended on a bitter note with Suryakumar Yadav and Team India refusing to shake hands with the Pakistan team. Salman Ali Agha’s side on the other hand have lodged a complaint against India for ‘unsportsmanlike behaviour’ to the match-referee as well as Asia Cup 2025 organisers Asian Cricket Council. Three teams in race to make Super 4 from Group B Unlike Group A three teams – Afghanistan Sri Lanka and Bangladesh – are in fray to reach the Super 4 stages from Group B. All three of these teams have 2 points each with Sri Lanka having the opportunity to reach 4 points on Monday night when they take on minnows Hong Kong. Bangladesh have posted one win over Hong Kong and lost one match to Sri Lanka while Afghanistan have won their only match against Hong Kong. Yasim Murtaza’s Hong Kong are of course out of the race for qualifying to the Super 4 with back-to-back losses.
