Persistent hiccups remedies
Drinking water: Drinking cold water slowly helps to calm the throat and diaphragm, which can stop hiccups. Many times drinking a glass of water in the same breath also provides immediate relief.

Breathe: Take a deep breath and stop for a few seconds (10–15 seconds). This increases the level of carbon dioxide, which can lead to normal diaphragm.
Lemon suck or taste: Sucking some sour such as lemon or taking a few drops of vinegar changes the taste of the mouth and the attention of the brain is removed from the hiccups.
Eating sugar: Put a little sugar on the tongue and suck it slowly. This can shift nerve signal and stop hiccups.
Breathe in paper bag: Slowly breathe and leave in a paper bag. It can also normalize the diaphragm by increasing carbon dioxide levels. (Note not to use plastic bags.)
peanut butter: Eat a spoonful of peanut butter. The process of chewing and swallowing it changes breath speed and diaphragm speed, which can stop hiccups.
When to contact a doctor?
If the hiccups persist for more than 48 hours, are getting very often and without reason, having a hindrance to sleep, food or speaking, then it can be a sign of another medical problem (eg gerd, diabetes, stroke, or neurological disease). In such a situation, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
