Train Ticket Booking: Indian Railways has made a big change in the rules of the online ticket booking system. This change made by the Railways will come into effect from October 1, 2025. According to the new change of Railways, now from October 1, 2025, whenever the general ticket booking of any train starts, only those passengers whose Aadhaar authentication has been done will be able to book tickets for the first 15 minutes. This rule will be applicable on both the IRCTC website and the mobile app. According to the Railways, this step will benefit the real passengers and will stop the irregularities in ticket booking by fake or unauthorised people.

Passengers will get convenience.

The Railway Ministry has made it clear that the rules for getting general reservation tickets from PRS counters will remain the same as before; there will be no change in them. Also, the restriction on authorised railway agents not to book for the first 10 minutes after the ticket is opened will continue as before. Railways believes that with the new system, the ticket booking process will be more transparent and the interference of brokers will be reduced. This will also give a better chance for ordinary passengers to get a seat.

These rules came into force on July 1

Indian Railways had recently made Aadhaar verification mandatory for Tatkal ticket booking as well. Under this rule, which came into force from July 1, 2025, passengers can now get Tatkal tickets only from the IRCTC website or mobile app, and for this, they are required to get Aadhaar verification done. A few months after this change, the same rule is now being implemented in general ticket booking as well. Indian Railways has also imposed special restrictions on Tatkal booking for authorised ticket agents. According to the rules, agents cannot take Tatkal tickets for the first 30 minutes of booking opening.
