Murder of Traffic Constable Shocks Odisha
Bhubaneswar/Keonjhar: A tragic incident has unfolded in Odisha, where a 25-year-old traffic constable, Subhamitra Sahoo, was discovered murdered after being reported missing since September 6. Authorities confirmed her body was found buried in a forested area in Keonjhar district.
Subhamitra, originally from Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district and stationed in Bhubaneswar, vanished after leaving her home for work. Her mother, Sukanti Sahoo, filed a missing person report at the Capital police station on September 7.
Following the report, police initiated an investigation. They soon learned that Subhamitra had married Deepak Rout, a fellow police constable, in July 2024. Deepak quickly emerged as the main suspect, as he was the last person seen with her in Bhubaneswar.
Preliminary findings suggest that Deepak murdered Subhamitra and concealed her body in a jungle in the Ghatagaon region of Keonjhar, approximately 170 kilometers from Bhubaneswar. The motive appears to be financial disputes, with reports indicating that Deepak had borrowed around Rs 10 lakh from Subhamitra. She had been pressing him to return the money to host a formal marriage ceremony.
