The Indian women’s team beat Australia by 102 runs on Wednesday at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh to level the three-match ODI series.

The Women in Blue ended its eight-match losing streak against the Aussies. The last time India had won against Australia was back on September 26, 2021 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay — a two-wicket win.

Moreover, India ended Australia’s 13-match winning streak in ODIs which dated back to February 2024 when it had lost to South Africa.

This was also Australia’s heaviest defeat in the format in terms of runs.

Coming into this fixture on the back of an eight-wicket loss, India posted a 292-run total — its highest against the Aussies — riding on Smriti Mandhana’s 12th ODI century.

Defending the total, India’s bowling attack, boosted by the return of pacer Renuka Singh Thakur who provided the host with the breakthrough, and disciplined fielding effort helped the Harmanpreeet Kaur-led side take the series to a decider ahead of the Women’s World Cup starting later this month.
