Hindi Diwas Interesting Facts: Every year on 14 September, Hindi Day is celebrated all over the country. This day is special because in 1949 the Constituent Assembly gave Hindi the status of the official language of India. Today Hindi has become not only India, but has become the third most spoken language in the world. On this occasion, let us know some interesting things to the history, literature and technical journey of Hindi language.
Origin of Hindi and early literature
The history of Hindi language is considered about 1300 years old. Most of the scholars believe it from the seventh-eighth century, while according to some, the real start of Hindi started around the 10th century. Gradually it became the language of colloquial and literature.
In the field of literature, ‘Siddha Kavi’ Sarhapa is considered the first poet of Hindi. His time is said to be around 769 AD. At the same time, the oldest composition of Hindi is considered ‘Shravakachar’ (933 AD) written by Devsen. Later, ‘Prem Sagar’ (1810) composed by the first book in the modern Khadi Boli Hindi (1810) came. Apart from this, Ayodhyasinh Upadhyay ‘Dear Migration’ of ‘Hariyodh’ was considered to be the first epic of the ‘Dear Migration’ Khadi Boli Hindi.
Hindi journalism and digital journey
The foundation of Hindi journalism came on 30 May 1826 with a letter called ‘Udant Martand’. It was published by Pandit Jugal Kishore Shukla from Kolkata. Due to economic reasons, this letter could run only one year, but it paved the way for Hindi journalism. After this, the first Hindi newspaper ‘Sudha Varshan’ was published.
Hindi entered the digital world in the 1980s, when the inscript keyboard layout was prepared for typing on the computer. Later, Hindi got a new flight with the arrival of Unicode. Especially developed by Microsoft, ‘Mangal’ font (2001) gave a wide recognition to Hindi online.
Hindi starts on internet
The first step of Hindi on the Internet was placed in December 1996, when an online magazine called ‘Bharat Darshan’ started. The interesting thing is that it was published not from India but from New Zealand. It was mainly focused on literature and became the cornerstone of online Hindi journalism and literature spread.
