CM Devendra Fadnavis, Dy CM Ajit Pawar To Inaugurate Beed–Ahilyanagar Rail Line

Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra and Guardian Minister Beed, inaugurated the Amalner (B) – Beed new railway line and Flagged Off the inaugural train from Beed to Ahilyanagar in the august presence of various dignitaries on September 17, 2025.

Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra and Guardian Minister Beed inaugurated the Amalner(B) – Beed new railway line and flagged off the inaugural train from Beed to Ahilyanagar, in the august presence of Pankaja Munde, Minister of Environment & Climate Change, Animal Husbandry Department, Maharashtra, Rajani Patil, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Bajrang Sonwane, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and various dignitaries at a function at Beed Railway Station on 17.09.2025.

The event witnessed a huge turnout of public assembled at the venue with immense excitement, celebrating the historic moment of Railways reaching hitherto unserved areas.

The event also coincided with the Marathwada Mukti Sangram Din celebrated on this very day, which marks the anniversary of Marathwada’s integration with the Indian Union after the victory of the Indian Armed Forces over the Nizam of Hyderabad on 17th September 1948.

The Chief Minister in presence of distinguished guests inaugurated the Amalner(B) - Beed new rail line by unveiling the plaque.

The dignitaries then proceeded to Beed platform where they flagged off the inaugural DEMU train from Beed to Ahilyanagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra said that this day will be written in golden words in the history of Beed. This new railway line will be a new chapter in Beed's social, economic, industrial and educational development. Connectivity is a new success chant of development.

Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister, Beed congratulated the people of the region. He said train services have been started but it is the people's responsibility to take care of the same and urged people to travel with proper tickets.

Earlier, Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager, Central Railway felicitated the esteemed dignitaries.

Presenting the welcome address, the General Manager extended warm greetings on the occasion of Marathwada Mukti Sangram Din. He said that the day not only reminds us of the sacrifices during the freedom struggle but also symbolizes new beginnings of hope, growth, and opportunities through rail connectivity. He expressed pride that with the inauguration of the 67.78 km Amalner (B)–Beed new line and extension of DEMU services up to Beed, the long-cherished dream of rail connectivity for the region is being realized.

Principal Heads of Departments, Senior Officers of Central Railway Headquarters and Pune Division and State Government Officials were present during the event.

Project brief and benefits

The 67.78 km Amalner(B) – Beed new broad gauge line is part of the 261.25 km Ahilyanagar–Beed–Parli Vaijnath new broad gauge line project.

The project executed on a 50:50 cost sharing basis between Indian Railways and Government of Maharashtra.

The Ahilyanagar – Amalner(B) section of 99.03 kms has already been commissioned with regular train services running on the section. With the flagging off of the train between Beed and Ahilyanagar, regular services on the section have now commenced.

Commencement of services on the section provides rail connectivity to the hinterland and hitherto unserved areas of the Marathwada region.

It will link the Marathwada region with other parts of Maharashtra, opening endless possibilities of development.

These extended services of trains will also help students, traders, and daily commuters by providing an affordable and eco-friendly mode of transportation.

The commissioning of the Ahilyanagar–Beed section of the Ahilyanagar–Beed–Parli Vaijnath new broad gauge line project has been a landmark project overcoming several geographical and logistical challenges, marking a significant achievement for Central Railway.

Central Railway remains committed to expanding the railway network and improving last-mile connectivity for inclusive growth and regional upliftment.
