For Bihar elections 2025, the seat sharing is faster. Chirag Paswan has stuck in NDA by demanding 100% winning seats instead of numbers. Their condition is that they will fight only in the seats where victory is ensured.
Patna: As soon as the Bihar assembly elections approached 2025, there has been an increase in both the NDA and Grand Alliance with the seat sharing. While the Congress, the Left and VIP are demanding more stake than the RJD, the NDA also has a screw up among the small parties with JDU-BJP. Meanwhile, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) President and Union Minister Chirag Paswan has made such a statement on seat sharing which has made the entire equation complicated.
"Quality matters, no number"
Chirag Paswan has said clearly that his quality is more than the number of seats. They want seats from which a hundred percent win is ensured. Citing the Lok Sabha election 2024, he reminded that his party had won all five seats and set a 100% strike rate.
Chirag said, "For me, two seats do not matter more or less, but I want seats on which I can win 100 percent. The seat distribution should also be on this basis."
100% strike rate target in assembly also
The LJP (Ram Vilas) supremo said that the way his party achieved 100 percent strike rate in the Lok Sabha elections, he wants the same seats in the assembly. He said, "We won every seat in the Lok Sabha. In the assembly, I would like to fight in those seats from where I can guarantee a hundred percent win. No number for me, the confirmed possibility of victory matters more." Chirag Paswan's statement clearly indicates that his party may compromise on the number of seats, but his opinion will be important in the selection process of seats.
Equation of possible seats in NDA
Out of the total 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly, the discussion on seat sharing in NDA is intensified. According to information received from sources,
- JDU: 102-103 seats
- BJP: 101-102 seats
- LJP (Ram Vilas): 25-28 seats
- Hum (Jitan Ram Manjhi's party): 6-7 seats
- RLM (Upendra Kushwaha's party): 4-5 seats
That is, JDU and BJP are expected to be equal to equal share in NDA, while Chirag Paswan's party can be given around 25 to 28 seats. However, the focus of Chirag is not on the number, but on the strong seats.
Struggle in the grand alliance
On the other hand, there is an argument over seat sharing in the Grand Alliance. Congress, Left and VIPs are all engaged in increasing their stake. The Congress has made it clear that it is not in favor of declaring Tejashwi Yadav as the Chief Minister's face, but wants to leave the decision on the public. In the 2020 assembly elections, RJD contested 144 seats and won 75 seats. This time too, his hold on about 90 seats is considered strong. At the same time, the Congress is claiming 70 seats. Left Dal, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and VIPs are also demanding more seats.
BJP-JDU tension increased due to Chirag's condition
Chirag Paswan's condition in NDA is creating a new challenge for BJP and JDU. They only want winable seats despite the number of numbers. This situation is difficult for BJP-JDU because the equations on every seat in Bihar are different and no party wants to leave their strongholds.
Seat sharing screw right now
There are only a few months left in Bihar assembly elections 2025, but the final decision has not been taken on seat sharing yet. This is likely to pull and deepen after the condition of Chirag Paswan. Now it has to be seen whether the BJP and JDU keep the NDA united by assuming their demand or new controversies arise in the game of seats.
