Full method of bid farewell to fathers

In the Hindu calendar, the last day of Pitrupaksha i.e. Sarvapitra Amavasya is considered to be the most sacred opportunity to bid farewell to the ancestors. After performing the entire fortnight and shraddh, all the ancestors are collectively remembered and immersed on this day. It is also called Pitra Visargani Amavasya. It is believed that with the shraddha and tarpan done on this day, those ancestors are also satisfied, whose death date is not known.

Morning resolution and bath

Sarvapritri Amavasya begins with a bath before sunrise. Bathing in Ganga water or a holy river and wear clean clothes. After this, take a pledge, today I do tarpan and immersion to all my fathers on the omnipotent Amavasya. This day is considered to be the best time to achieve his blessings.

Pindadan and method of tarpan

On this day, sesame, water, flowers and rice are used for tarpan. Sitting on the seat of Kusha, offer water three times and pronounce the name of the ancestors and pronounce the gotra. It is considered mandatory to offer bodies made of ripe rice, sesame and ghee. Due to this, the soul of the ancestors is satisfied and leaves.

Importance of Brahmin food and charity

This method of bid farewell to the fathers is considered complete when the Brahmin is served food. Kheer, puri, vegetables and seasonal fruits are definitely offered in food. Along with giving Dakshina to Brahmins, giving food to cows, dogs, crows and needy is also a mandatory tradition.
