Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has voiced the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup to unite the country in support of the Indian women’s cricket team and urged fans to show the same passion and support for women’s cricket as they show for male cricket. This year, Akshay Kumar expressed his feelings in a video released by Geographstar, an official broadcaster of the women’s leading tournament.
Talking about the importance of supporting the women’s cricket team, Akshay Kumar recalled his experience of watching the 2017 World Cup final and shared his feelings. He said, “I still remember the 2017 World Cup final. I went to the stadium to see the train from Scotland. I saw the passion of our women’s cricket team. Why did I go? Because then I understood that there is no gender difference in cricket. There is just a jersey, a passion and a team. Team India.”
We usually support the men’s team- Akshay Kumar
He said, “We usually encourage the men’s team. But the real support will be found when we will encourage our women’s team as much as we do.
In the video, Akshay is also seen holding the number 18 jersey of Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, which confirms whether Virat Kohli or Smriti Mandhana, Jersey remains the same. India, along with Sri Lanka, is hosting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, the first match of which will start in Guwahati on 30 September. India is hoping to win its first ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title at its home ground.
