The Rouse Avenue Court has taken cognizance of the allegations to money laundering in the ‘Land for Job’ case and issued summons to three accused Lal Babu Chaudhary, Mustakim Ansari and Rajendra Singh. According to the order, these three accused will have to appear in court on 13 October. The court also said that the case will now be heard daily (Day to Day Basis), so that the case can be executed as soon as possible.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the case, and the court also asked the ED to submit a copy of permission to prosecute Lalu Prasad Yadav in the court. The case is to Lalu Yadav’s close businessman Amit Katyal.
Earlier, the case was heard in the Delhi High Court on 8 September. During that time, Lalu’s lawyer had said that the CBI lodged an FIR without obtaining compulsory approval under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, while Lalu was the Railway Minister at that time. He said that it was necessary to get permission under Section 17A of the PC Act, so an FIR could not be lodged without approval and investigation could not be started.
In the ‘Land for Job’ scam, it is alleged that Lalu Prasad Yadav while being a railway minister took land at a cheaper rate from them in exchange for giving jobs in railways. The case is between 2004 and 2009. The CBI has accused Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav and others in this case. Investigation agencies say that this transaction took place without any valid process and now its hearing is going on in the court.
