Parenting isn't easy. In addition to all the day-to-day things you must do for your child - like cook their meals, get them dressed, and keep them entertained - parents are also expected to be fountains of knowledge for their kids, answering every question their curious minds have about the world around them.
Some of these queries might be easy enough to answer, but as your child starts to read books or go to school, you may soon find yourself having to frantically Google a maths sum or geography question that your child has demanded the answer to. You might expect this once your child is of school age, but one mum has proven the probing questions might come earlier - as her two-year-old daughter is already questioning everything.
Laney Morello shared a video on TikTokin which she explained she was putting her daughter to bed when the toddler told her mum she was feeling "sad" - and nothing could prepare her for the reason why.

In the video, Laney asked her daughter if she was feeling blue, to which a small voice off camera said: "Yeah."
The mum then asked her what was making her feel sad, and she replied: "Because Pompeii got destroyed."
The answer took Laney by surprise. She wasn't expecting her daughter to be so affected by a tragedy that took place almost 2,000 years ago, in 79AD.
She wrote in the caption of her video: "Any tips for helping toddlers cope with mass tragedies that happened in 79AD? My little empath."
The mum didn't clarify how her toddler knew about Pompeii in the first place, but it's likely that she either read it in a child-friendly history book or that it was explained in a TV show aimed at toddlers.
Commenters on the post were equally baffled by the little girl's strange emotional reaction to the lost city of Pompeii. Many questioned who had been telling her about the tragedy, while others joked that Laney should introduce her daughter to the song Pompeii by Bastille.
One person asked: "Who is telling that baby about Pompeii?"
Another added: "There's actually a really good song written about this exact feeling."
The official TikTok account for the History channel even replied, writing: "We're still sad about Pompeii, too."
Other parents also commented on the video about the strange things their children have been upset about over the years, letting Laney know she definitely isn't alone.
One said: "My daughter cried for two days when Pluto got demoted from planet status. She was convinced that he was going to be all alone in space with no friends."
Someone else shared: "This stage is not for the weak. My girl asked when we could give North America back to the native peoples, and then we both cried at my answer."
