Celebrated Pakistani director and producer Wajahat Rauf has disclosed that he was the first to hire superstar Mahira Khan as a video jockey (VJ), giving her an early break in the entertainment industry.

Wajahat Rauf appeared on the Geo Podcast alongside his wife and producer Shazia Wajahat, where he addressed various questions from host Mubasher Hashmi.

Clarifying a common misconception, Wajahat stated that although many believe he introduced Hania Amir to showbiz, Hania had actually been working in the industry for 4 to 5 years prior to his involvement.

Wajahat then revealed that he spotted Mahira Khan at a launch event several years ago, where she was seen dancing and thoroughly enjoying herself. Impressed by her presence, he decided to hire her as a VJ on his TV channel, Aag TV.

He shared, “After hiring Mahira, she committed to directly reporting to me. She worked on the channel for about 3 to 4 years, and since then, I have maintained a very close relationship with her.”

When asked about working with Mahira Khan in the present, Wajahat and Shazia Wajahat said that although they have attempted to collaborate multiple times in the past, issues such as remuneration and scheduling conflicts prevented projects from moving forward. However, they expressed their intention to work with both Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan in the future.

Mahira Khan’s Career Highlights

Mahira Khan began her showbiz career in 2006 as a video jockey. She gained widespread fame through the hit television drama Humsafar, which catapulted her to stardom.

She later made her film debut with Shoaib Mansoor’s critically acclaimed movie Bol, which significantly boosted her cinematic career. Since then, Mahira has appeared in several successful films and even had the honor of starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the Bollywood film Raees.
