Railways are the most popular medium for each common Indian citizen to go from one city to another. The journey of the railway is safe as well as very comfortable. Have you ever noticed that a number of 5 digits is written on every compartment of the train. This number is very special. According to the rules of the railway, many special information to the bogies is hidden in these five numbers. Let us tell you all the information to it. In these five numbers written outside every bogie of the train, it is known when this bogie was made and what kind of bogie is it. In this, the first two digits show when this coach of the train was constructed and the last three digits show its category.

Suppose 05497 number is written on the coach of a train. Therefore, it should be read in two parts. The first two digits tell us the time of its construction. Like this bogie was made in 2005 in this case. If 98397 is written on the bogie, it means that this bogie was built in 1998.

At the same time, the last three digits written on the bogey reflect the category of that bogie. For example, in the first case (05497), this bogie is of a general category and in the second case (98397), this bogie is of sleeper class. To understand this in detail, you can see the chart below.

001-025: AC first class
