Among all the traditions, Kanya Pujan (worship of young girls) holds a very special place.

Kanya Pujan is considered the most sacred ritual of Navratri, as young girls are worshipped as the living embodiment of Goddess Durga. It is believed that honoring them brings blessings of health, prosperity, and happiness to the family. In 2025, Shardiya Navratri Ashtami falls on September 30 (Tuesday), making it the most auspicious day for Kanya Pujan.

Ashtami Kanya Pujan 2025 Date and Muhurat

  • Ashtami Date: September 30, 2025 (Tuesday)
  • Brahma Muhurat: 5:00 am to 6:12 am
  • Kanya Pujan Muhurat: 10:40 am to 12:15 pm
  • So Pigure Ritus and Rules
  • Invite girls aged 2 to 10 years for the puja.
  • Traditionally, one young boy (considered as Bhairav’s form) is also invited.
  • Wash their feet and welcome them with respect.
  • Apply kumkum and akshat tilak before seating them on a clean place.
  • Serve Traditional Prasad Like Puri, Kala Chana, Halwa, or Kheer.
  • Offer dakshina and small gifts before respectfully bidding them farewell.

Significance of Ashtami and Kanya Pujan

Ashtami is considered one of the most important days of Navratri, also known as Maha Ashtami. On this day, devotees worship Maa Mahagauri, the goddess of purity, peace, and compassion. Performing Kanya Pujan on Ashtami is believed to bring divine blessings, prosperity, and positive energy into the household. It also symbolizes respect towards female power and innocence.
