Emphasising the need to boost Make in India mission by producing everything from chips to ships, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday assured the domestic manufacturing sector that his government was leaving no stone unturned to help it in this endeavor by enhancing ease of doing business. He underlined that the next generation GST reforms will give new wings to India's growth story.
Addressing the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida, the Prime Minister appreciated India's robust economic and strategic equations with Russia, which is the trade partner of the event. "This time Russia is the country partner of this trade show. This means we are further strengthening a time-tested partnership in this trade show," he said.
He also took a dig at the Congress and said. "Despite all these efforts, some political parties are trying to mislead the people of this country. To cover the failures of the government that they were running before 2014, Congress and its allies are lying to the people. The truth is that during Congress rule, there was a rush to loot people through taxes and there was theft from even these looted funds. The common people were being squeezed through high taxes."
He claimed that his government has reduced taxes on a large scale and drastically reduced inflation. This dispensation has increased both incomes and savings, he said. The total savings of the people now will be to the tune of Rs 2.5 lakh crore, he said. He also highlighted the efforts being made to create the right ecosystem for strengthening indigenous defence production, along with making India self-reliant in all sectors. He maintained that India is developing a vibrant defence production sector.
