Bank Holidays in October: In October 2025, there is a lot of holiday in banks along with festivals. Due to major festivals like Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra, Diwali, Bhai Dooj and Chhath Puja, banks will remain closed for several days in many states. In such a situation, it is very important for customers, especially business classes, entrepreneurs and daily banking transactions, it is very important to know on which day the banks will be open and when will it be closed.

Digital banking will continue even in festive season

However, online banking, mobile banking, UPI and other digital services will continue smoothly during the holidays. But for tasks like cash transactions or check clearing, you have to depend on bank branches. Therefore, it is necessary to plan in advance to avoid cash shortage.

Banking services will be affected many days across the country in the holiday list released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for October 2025.

Learn when the banks will be closed

Banks will remain closed in many states including Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, Bengal, Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala on 1 October 2025 (Wednesday) due to Dussehra (Vijayadashami), Mahanavami and Ordnance Puja.

On 2 October 2025 (Thursday), all banks across the country will remain closed due to Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (National Holiday).

Due to Diwali, Narak Chaturdashi and Kali Puja on 20 October 2025 (Monday), there will be a bank holiday in about 20 states/union territories, including Tripura, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, UP, Delhi, MP, Telangana, Chhattisgarh etc.

Banks will remain closed on 21 October 2025 (Tuesday) on the occasion of Lakshmi Pujan, Govardhan Puja, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Sikkim, MP and Jammu and Kashmir.

On 22 October 2025 (Wednesday), there will be a holiday in Vikram Samvat New Year, Balipratiprada, Diwali, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, UP and Bihar.

On 23 October 2025 (Thursday), banks will remain closed in states like Bihar, Manipur, Himachal, Bengal etc. on Bhai Dooj, Chitragupta Pooja and Ningol Chakkoba.

On 27 October 2025 (Monday), there will be a holiday in banks in Bihar, Jharkhand and Bengal on Chhath Puja (evening Arghya).

Banks will be closed in Bihar and Jharkhand on the occasion of Chhath Puja (Arghya) on 28 October 2025 (Tuesday).

Other general bank holidays

Banks will remain closed every Sunday in all states. The second and fourth Saturday will be a holiday for banking transactions. This time on 11 and 25 October 2025, Saturday will be on Saturday.
